RAF Shawbury Veterans Weekend

RAF Shawbury and the Assault Glider Trust hosted a Veterans' Weekend on 5-6 July 2008. The event was a great success, in spite of the somewhat changeable weather! Unfortunately, the heavy rain showers and low cloud prevented the appearance of both the Vulcan and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakota on the Sunday. However, the Royal Navy are made of sterner stuff and the "Man of the Match" award goes to the Royal Navy Historic Flight Swordfish pilot, who flew his aircraft all the way to Shawbury from Yeoviltion to display, then flew home again! The Memorial Service on Sunday was very well attended and over 1000 veterans, their families and supporters of the Trust attended the weekend.
